Privacy Policy
Hey there! We’re excited you’re interested in Snapr, your smart digital space for saving everything and finding anything. We built Snapr with privacy at its core because we believe your data is yours, not ours. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and how we keep it safe, all in plain English, without the scary legal jargon.
This policy applies to everyone using Snapr, no matter where you are in the world. By using Snapr, you’re agreeing to this policy, so give it a quick read! If anything’s unclear, just reach out to us at hi@snapr.so.

1. Information We Collect
We only collect what we need to make Snapr work smoothly for you. Here’s the breakdown:
Information You Give Us Directly
- Account Basics: When you sign up, we ask for your email, password (which we hash and store securely), and optionally your name and profile picture.
- Your Content: The links, notes, and files you save, including titles, descriptions, tags, and any metadata (like URLs or file types). We also store your collections (like folders) and favorites. Rest assured, your content is private. Only you can access it, and our team doesn’t peek unless you specifically ask for help with something (like troubleshooting) and give us permission.
- Settings and Preferences: Things like your account settings, display preferences, or usage stats (e.g., how much storage you’ve used).
Information We Collect Automatically
- Usage Data: Basic info like your browser type, device details, IP address, and how you interact with Snapr (e.g., what features you use, when you log in). This helps us improve the app and keep it secure.
- Cookies and Similar Tech: We use cookies to remember your login and keep Snapr working smoothly. See our Cookies section below for more details.
- AI-Generated Data: When you save content, our AI creates tags and embeddings (fancy math representations of your text) to make searching smarter. These are stored with your items but are just tools to help you find stuff faster.
We don’t collect sensitive info like your payment details (that’s handled securely by Stripe if you upgrade plans) or anything unrelated to making Snapr work for you.
2. How We Use Your Information
We respect your privacy above all, so we only use your information in ways that directly support your experience with Snapr. Here’s exactly how:
- Core App Features: To save your links, notes, and files; organize them into collections; generate AI tags and search results; and show your profile.
- Improvements: Analyze fully anonymized usage data (never your actual content) to fix bugs, add features, or make things faster. Always without identifying you or looking at what you’ve saved.
- Security and Support: Detect issues, prevent abuse, and help if you contact us.
- Communications: Send you account-related emails like verification links, password resets, or important updates about Snapr. We’ll only send marketing emails if you opt in, and you can unsubscribe anytime.
- Legal Compliance: Respond to legal requests or prevent fraud when required by law.
Our Service Providers
We use trusted partners to help Snapr work:
- Supabase (authentication and database storage)
- Cloudflare R2 (file storage)
- AI service providers (for smart features like tagging and search)
- Vercel (hosting)
- Stripe (payment processing for Pro plans)
These services only get what they need to do their job, and we have agreements to keep your data protected. Both Supabase and Cloudflare R2 are GDPR-compliant.
3. Sharing Your Information
Simple: We don’t sell, rent, or share your personal data with anyone for marketing or ads. Ever.
We only share data in these limited cases:
- Service Providers: As mentioned above, we share limited data with trusted partners who help us run Snapr. They can’t use it for anything else.
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, court order, or to protect our rights and safety.
- Business Transfers: If Snapr is acquired or merged, your data would transfer to the new owner (but this policy would still apply).
- With Your Consent: If you explicitly ask us to share something.
4. Data Security
We take security seriously to keep your stuff safe:
- Encryption: All your data is encrypted both in transit (using HTTPS) and at rest (stored securely in our databases and file storage). This prevents unauthorized access and keeps your information safe.
- File Protection: Uploaded files are private and accessed via temporary, signed URLs that expire quickly.
- Best Practices: We use secure password hashing, rate limiting to prevent attacks, regular security updates, and restricted access to your data internally.
- AI Safety: When we send text to our AI services for processing, it’s anonymized and not stored long-term by them.
That said, no system is 100% hack-proof. If a data breach occurs, we’ll notify you as required by law.
5. Your Control Over Your Data
You’re in control! Here’s what you can do:
- Access and Update: Log in anytime to view or edit your profile, content, and settings.
- Export Your Data: Request a copy of all your data by emailing hi@snapr.so. We’ll send you a complete export within 24 hours.
- Delete Your Data: You can delete individual items anytime, or delete your entire account (and all associated data) from your settings page. We’ll permanently delete everything within 30 days.
- Opt-Out of Emails: Unsubscribe from marketing emails anytime (account-related emails will still come through).
- Cookie Controls: Manage cookie preferences in your browser settings. See our Cookies section below.
Got questions about your data? Just email us at hi@snapr.so and we’ll respond within 30 days (usually much faster).
6. Cookies and Do Not Track
We use cookies to remember your login and keep Snapr working smoothly for you. Cookies are tiny text files your browser stores. Think of them as helpful little notes so you don’t have to log in every time.
What We Use Cookies For:
Essential Cookies (Required):
- Keeping you logged in
- Remembering your session
- Basic security features
Analytics Cookies (Optional):
- Understanding how people use Snapr so we can make it better
- These are powered by PostHog and are fully anonymized
Your Cookie Choices
You can manage or delete cookies anytime in your browser settings. Rejecting essential cookies may prevent you from using some features of Snapr, but you can disable analytics cookies without affecting functionality.
Do Not Track: Right now, Snapr doesn’t respond to Do Not Track (DNT) browser signals because there’s no industry standard for how to handle them. We’re always working on giving you more control over your data, though!
7. Third-Party Services
Snapr integrates with a few external services:
- AI Services: For smart tagging and search. They process text but don’t store it long-term or use it for their own purposes.
- Supabase and Cloudflare: For authentication, database, and file storage. Their privacy policies apply to how they handle data on our behalf.
- Stripe: For payment processing (if you upgrade to Pro). They handle payment info directly and securely. We never see your full card details.
If you click on external links from your saved content, those sites’ privacy policies apply once you leave Snapr.
8. International Users
Snapr is available worldwide! Your data is stored in secure data centers in the US (via Supabase and Cloudflare), which means it may transfer across borders. We use standard contractual clauses and other protections required by GDPR and similar laws to keep it secure, no matter where you are.
If your country’s laws require extra steps or if you have questions about international data transfers, reach out to us at hi@snapr.so.
9. Children’s Privacy
Snapr isn’t designed for children under 13 (or 16 in some regions like the EU). We don’t knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn we have data from a child, we’ll delete it immediately.
Parents: If you believe your child signed up for Snapr, contact us at hi@snapr.so and we’ll remove the account right away.
10. Data Retention
We keep your data as long as your account is active or as needed to provide Snapr’s services. Here’s the breakdown:
- Account Data: Stored until you delete your account
- Deleted Content: Permanently removed within 30 days
- Backups: May persist in backups for up to 90 days for disaster recovery
- Legal Requirements: Some data may be retained longer if required by law
11. Changes to This Policy
We’ll update this policy if things change (like new features or legal requirements). When we do, we’ll:
- Post the new version here with an updated date
- Email you for significant changes
- Give you a chance to review before continuing to use Snapr
Keep using Snapr after changes? That means you agree to the updated policy.
